SITUATED IN THE EASTERN FELLS WAINWRIGHTS 48 AND 116

Easy but steep climb from Kirkstone pass
LAKE DISTRICT
PARKING-Kirkstone pass
MILES- 4 circular approx
ASCENT-300M approx
FACILITIES- Pub at kirkstone pass
TERRAIN-Steep climb on stone steps with a slight scramble near the summit, then a grass path to middle dodd
Red Screes from the gate at the end of the car park.
The route looks quite daunting from here but once on the path you will see there is little difficulty in the ascent other than its steepness, it took us 45 minutes to get to the summit and that was slow walking due to the steepness, there was a small section near the summit which is a bit of a scramble and care is needed but its not too bad.
Their is a trig point and small shelter at the summit
From the summit you will see Middle Dodd and the grass path to the ridge, its easy to follow.
The decent however was difficult to pick up, we ended up just making our own way off middle Dodd, it was very steep going down but not technical, then you pick the path up at the bottom to take you back up kirkstone pass, for a nice circular walk.
