TERRAIN-MAINLY STONE TRACK, LOOSE SCREE AND ROCKY IN PLACES WITH SOME STONE STEPS.

We have done Old Man Coniston a few times, it has various routes up the summit, but each time we have gone up via the old quarry ruins from Walna scar road,  as we  find it full of character, you can make it a circular and include more wainwrights making it approx 10 miles.

Our last week we descended via goats water making it a small circular walk.

Ariya was only 2.5 when we climbed last, she loved all the rocks to scramble on, old quarry works to explore, it is steep going and the path is loose and rocky in sections which is why we chose to descend via goats water.

The views from the summit are amazing, this has been one of our favourite walks, plenty of places to stop and rest along the way, even a paddle in the tarns, but be careful as the weather can change dramatically, we have had sunshine and gale winds with poor visibility which makes navigating hard, a couple of times we have even turned back due to high winds for the safer option.
