PARKING-CA19 1TH closest postcode for Jubilee bridge just at the base of Hardknott pass

MILES- 3-9MILES

ASCENT 100-500M

FACILITIES-Pub just before the car park

TERRAIN-Good solid path walking next to the river Esk, good stone path with a gentle incline

We parked just before Jubilee bridge as it was full on the day we walked, so be prepared on busy summers days to drive around to find limited space..

On the road in just before the car park there is a red telephone box, this is the start point of the walk.

You follow the road passed the phone box and the farm house, the path continues straight forward, you come to a bridge which you can do a return walk coming back the other side of the river but we returned the same way.

The river Esk is on the left hand side and approx. 1.5 mines into the walk you come to the first plunge pools of crystal clear water ( although cold)

the grass area to get to this section can be boggy but not too bad, we actually continued to walk up the valley past Lincove bridge and Throstlehow crag passing various waterfalls.

It truly is the most impressive and magical valley to walk in, with plenty of plunge pools to stop and paddle/swim, we walked 9 miles this day but you can walk as short or long as you require..
