TERRAIN EASY WITH WELL MAINTAINED PATHS
Our first visit we walked the longer route as we were pretty new to the wainwrights, Ariya was 20 months old and somehow managed to walk 6 miles along various paths leading to the summit, it felt like it took forever as she stopped at every point to pick up sticks and stones, this was her very first walk up and down herself, just the last road section back to the car she got carried.
From the roadside parking head over the bridge.
Once over the bridge you head into the forest with a incline through the forest in the first section, the paths are easy to follow and gentle inclines from this section, as well as sign posts.
There is a nice bench near the summit to stop and admire the vie.ws.
From here its a gentle walk to the summit which doesnt have a cairn or trig point, but you see a slight hump in the grass which is the highest point
The views are fantastic from the summit.
From Gale road its a gentle ascent to summit approx 1 mile, the paths have been well maintained for wheelchair users too.
The car park can get busy as its often used for people walking the Skiddaw range.
